Film Dubai

Being in Dubai has been an eye-opening experience.

The level of professionalism and desire for excellence is unparalleled. Seeing what has been achieved in 50 years by a visionary leader, ceases to amaze me and many others who have seen this City grow to become what it is today.

Similarly, the film industry here is starting to show what can be achieved in the Middle East, a cinema culture is emerging and I am convinced the next SQUID GAMES could just come from here.

Foreign films are grabbing audiences attention, they are no longer basing their successes on formulaic writing and conventions that we have been trained to follow from Hollywood.

It is very exciting to be in a place where you can be part of growth and foresight.

Boomtown-Productions is stepping into LONG-form, its track record of excellence and cutting edge commercial production places it as a contender to lead the way.

Streaming platforms are looking for authentic and relevant stories for territories like the Middle East. This is creating a culture of writing and creation as opposed to a service industry. Similarly, South Africa is seeing this same growth through Netflix commitment to creating stories authentic to Africa. Streaming platforms have accounted for an incredible growth in the film industry globally.

Being housed at Boomtown-Productions for the last two months, I have seen the most amazing talent and beautiful films produced. This has inspired some ideas which are being birthed for the region which will add massive value to an industry that is ever expanding *watch this space for an exiting announcement soon.

For those in television and film, we are living in exciting times that are birthing countless opportunities that did not exist two years ago, this will see the industry flourish in difficult times which I must say was unexpected.

Telling meaningful stories whether they shorts or features is what gets me out of bed every day. Passionate about those captured in slavery. Biographical films (The Perfect wave with Scott Eastwood) and (Biblical epic Samson with the late Rutger Hauer, Jackson Rathbone, Billy Zane and Taylor James) My recent short films Beat The Curve, Sex Tourism Labour have been awarded best shorts across the globe in 2020.
