The film business is an industry where things are always evolving, equipment and technology make huge strides daily, from 2k-12k in a matter of a few years, what was big is now small and the processing speeds are getting faster each day.
As a director, I have always had an editor edit for me, but the modern directors are editing their own material. This has necessitated learning the art of editing. Firstly which software package? There are so many choices but Black Magic DaVinci Resolve seemed a good fit, and its FREE.

It’s all a bit daunting when approaching something new, so I opted to hire one on one tutor, at USD 12,00 per hour which was an excellent investment, this method of learning meant screen sharing and instant answers when stuck. After ten lessons my confidence in the software was sufficient to put together a great sequence.
I followed the private lessons with a tutorial (online) which is nothing short of brilliant with an accredited Black Magic tutor who has help me round off my skills to a point where I can confidently edit (voice, music and imagery) – a massive growth. Its liberating to empower oneself, you never to old to learn and if you think you a master of your craft there is always room for improvement.
As a film maker, we hustle to raise money to make projects and live eat, sleep our projects till they birth and when they do, thats your life for the duration of the shoot as you delve into creation, a process that is all in. And then once its made, you need an audience and hopefully the film you’ve made appeals or grabs attention, as otherwise you’ve lost all your money. A project we have just completed is LAST KNOWN CO-ORDINATES
News flash : (we currently ranked 12th on ITUNES) , watch this amazing documentary and be inspired.

Let us know who your tutor was. I love Resolve, but also have much to learn.
