A Spring in our step

A new season has birthed, its April and SPRING is here in Porto !!!!

Themes of rebirth and renewal often use symbols from the spring season. Spring refers to love, hope, youth and growth. The seasonal symbolism for this period may also allude to religious celebrations such as passover or easter.”

“The arrival of spring brings more daylight, so we can enjoy the outdoors and recharge, the increased light also triggers the release of serotonin, a brain chemical that helps us feel happier”

“Spring is called a child because the cycle of seasons commences with spring. At spring, the world of nature is young and beautiful.”

Being SPRING here and WINTER back in SA feels so weird, I normally love winter in Cape Town, its a season where the winds are NW, the surf in False bay is amazing, and we make the most stunning fires to warm the house, instead we here in Porto and on the 1st we went into daylight savings, and gained an hour, so lost an hour of our lives effectively. The sun is shining, love is in the air and Porto has opened up, the lockdown has lifted and restrictions have been relaxed. Coffee shops, street cafe’s, shops etc are open, it feels like a sense of normality is returning?

Time seems to fly bye, we can’t stop the clock, after Spring comes summer and so the cycle of life continues. Treasure each day, treasure the season and treasure those around you.

So its time to flip the roof down – off our new car and enjoy this new season…..

Telling meaningful stories whether they shorts or features is what gets me out of bed every day. Passionate about those captured in slavery. Biographical films (The Perfect wave with Scott Eastwood) and (Biblical epic Samson with the late Rutger Hauer, Jackson Rathbone, Billy Zane and Taylor James) My recent short films Beat The Curve, Sex Tourism Labour have been awarded best shorts across the globe in 2020.

  1. Yes spring is a time of promise – balmy warm weather, longer daylight hours and more outdoor activity, so enjoy your ‘topless’ car and the surf.
