Missing person

As a father I can only imagine my daughter or son going missing, what would i do?, * I would do Everything I could to find them. This is what caught my eye on our outing today, a missing person POSTER scattered all over the City. So as a story-teller I knew capturing this would be both fascinating and sad. I can only pray that this family is re-united.

Having done five films involving human trafficking, this really hit home, what has happened and where is the person. This makes what I do as a film maker meaningful, and I know the work that A21 does reaches millions through their campaign CAN YOU SEE ME, and I have been fortunate to direct 5 of the films. The CAN YOU SEE ME campaign was conceived by friend Christian Elliott who passionately makes a difference in his quest to make people sit up and take notice as the imagery and films are highly emotive and all based on true stories.

These films can be seen on my website http://www.brucemacdonaldfilms.com It is worth being aware of one’s surroundings, and todays trip with the camera was beautiful yet emotive as this is the harsh reality of the world we live in. This is a world-wide problem, and I am glad that the city was scattered with these posters, it shows people care.

So the day that followed although beautiful, I thought was better depicted through black and white visuals as they are more emotive and perhaps sometimes are more appealing to the eye? So I went to the train station which is sublime, and the tiles are blue and white, and the train for me depicted a journey, a journey of discovery and hopefully discovery, both for the missing girl and us as a family who are finding our way in the beautiful city.

Other than our daily exploration we have taken small steps that are taking us closer to finding courses for our girls, but wow!!! finding English speaking courses is not easy, I wish there was someone who could help!!!! Online applications are not necessarily easy or designed in a use-friendly manner, and this is global but add the Portuguese language element, then its slightly more than challenging.

Tomorrow is a new day and taking ‘one step at a time’ will be my new mantra, as then the challenges that need overcoming will never be too daunting.

Telling meaningful stories whether they shorts or features is what gets me out of bed every day. Passionate about those captured in slavery. Biographical films (The Perfect wave with Scott Eastwood) and (Biblical epic Samson with the late Rutger Hauer, Jackson Rathbone, Billy Zane and Taylor James) My recent short films Beat The Curve, Sex Tourism Labour have been awarded best shorts across the globe in 2020.

  1. Magnificent architecture. Takes one back to the days where art and craft was recognized as essential for visual beauty. No plastics or other modern synthetic adornments. Money makes the world go round these days and human trafficking is one of the easy make money routes. I hope your films can make an impact in oporto if they have not been on circuit to date
